Tom Moates

Award winning equestrian journalist, author and horseman Tom Moates lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA. Tom has written extensively about his own horsemanship journey following Harry Whitney for many years. Tom has a gift for narrowing down the few things that can make the most change and helping the owner understand and make the adjustments to find improvement with staying power. Tom comes through the Alleghany Highlands semi-regularly in his now famous roving clinics.

Mattalyn Howard Dressage

Mattalyn Howard is a Dressage rider and trainer, as well as lover of the art of horsemanship. Mattalyn believes that dressage is for every horse and every rider. Mattalyn has a fun approach to teaching that aims to help riders achieve their goals whether they want their horse to use his or her body better to preserve soundness going down the trail or are have high performance aspirations. Mattalyn is an FEI level rider and trainer, USDF Bronze medalist, a USDF “L” candidate, and has ridden with teachers including Harry Whitney, Jim Koford, Mark Russell, Herwig Radnetter (former Chief rider of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna), Erin Brinkman, and JJ Tate.

Jaime Hope Blees

Through Hope Horsemanship, Jaime Hope Blees has a passion to help horses and their humans excel together through clear communication, greater understanding, and increased trust leading to more connection. A willing horse that is not under stress will perform its work better and realize improved longevity. Available for consults and sessions in the Shenandoah Valley/Alleghany Highlands regions of Virginia (Staunton, Roanoke, Lexington area) and is available to travel for private clinics as well.
